Earlier this week, we were riding home from kindergarten and she said, "Daddy, I have to tell you something and I don't want you to be mad."
"Okay, sweetie, tell me."
"Well.......... today, Thomas kissed me on the mouth and I wasn't even ready."
"Is that right? Hmmm. .... Well, tell me what happened."
"We were standing in the lunchroom and he just kissed me on the mouth like (smacking sound) real fast and I wasn't even ready."
Now, Thomas had been picking on her for 3 weeks and she'd come home complaining about it sometimes. Based on the little things he was doing, harmless stuff, I told her, "He's not doing that to be mean. He's doing it because he likes you. Just tell him to behave and not bother you but don't be mean to him unless he does something to hurt you. Then tell the teacher. But, that's what little boys do when they like little girls sometimes."
So, that was the backdrop of it.
Then, this: "He kissed me and I wasn't ready", which I wasn't sure what she meant by that last part. Did he catch her unexpected, or was she thinking she didn't get a chance to pucker back?? So, I asked.
"What would you have told him if you HAD been ready?"
"I would have said, 'No. Don't you do that.'"
I smiled, "That's my girl. So, what did you do when Thomas kissed you?"
She said, "I told the teacher what he did and she told him not to do that."
"Well, I'm sure he won't do it again."
Thomas' mother is a school counselor in the high school there where my daughter attends kindergarten. She called my wife today to let her know they wouldn't be able to come to the birthday party because Thomas has a game Saturday morning. (The party is at 10. Why? Because Alabama & Florida play at 3 CST, that's why.
Mrs. Thomas' Mother to my wife: ".....and Thomas is really upset because he wanted to come."
"Tell him it's okay, Charlcie understands."
"Well, he LOVES Charlcie," she laughed. "I want to apologize for him kissing her the other day. Every year, we have an incident with the kindergartners where one of them kisses another, and I guess I'm honored that it had to be my son this year. I told him that he is not to kiss the girls in school, and he said, 'Mom, I couldn't help myself. I just love Charlcie'."
So, I've come home early today to load my newly acquired Beretta.
I tried to load a very recent pic, but can't figure out how to do it without shrinking it down and that's just too much trouble.
