Alabama Democrat SWITCHES to GOP

Postby MacUser » December 22nd, 2009, 9:16 am

Exclusive: Rep. Parker Griffith switches to GOP
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30896.html

. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, will announce today that he’s switching parties to become a Republican.

According to two senior GOP aides familiar with the decision, the announcement will take place this afternoon in Griffith's district in northern Alabama.

A radiation oncologist who founded a cancer treatment center, Griffith plans to blast the Democratic health care bill as a prime reason for his decision to switch parties—and is expected to cite his medical background as his authority on the subject.

Parker Griffith is not about doing the right thing. He saw clearly the writing on the wall. This is ploy to keep his seat. What ever he calls himself, he is NOT an effective, honest representative of North Alabama. He's a dishonest coward.

He did vote against the healthcare bill in the house though but they didn't need his vote either so that doesn't mean much.

AMEN.

He said that the Democrat Party's values no longer align with his. He's been in office exactly 1 year. What about their values changed in the last 50 years, let alone the last 1? Nothing. He lives in a district that has been Democrat since Reconstruction, he ran as a Democrat, he won as a Democrat, and he took Democrat money to defeat a Republican candidate for the seat. Now, because he sees that he has ZERO chance of retaining that seat as a Democrat, because he understands clearly that even in his district everything that has come to a head in the past 12 months when all the Democrats finally got full control of everything has repulsed more than enough voters to unseat him next year. This is a guy who has been fake, has concealed information about reprimands and wrongdoing as a physician that some allege may have caused people to die, has gotten every local news outlet in his back pocket, and has now decided that the people in Huntsville/Decatur are too stupid to understand that he's just saving his own skin.

The thing that makes me mad is that Robert Aderholt and Richard Shelby welcomed the move!!!! This illustrates our problem, folks. Republicans are as bad as Democrats. When a true blue Democrat changes boats in the middle of his first term in order to try and hang on for a second term, Republican leaders in Alabama welcomed the move even as Republican candidates for the seat --- who have been Republicans all along --- condemned the move while these jokers applauded it and welcomed Griffith with open arms.

They all have to go. Every single last one of 'em. Parker Griffith should be sent back to Huntsville by the voters to inflict himself on his patients who choose him instead of imposing himself on voters who didn't.

He voted against Pelosi, against healthcare, against the stimulus and that is better than many Tennessee Senators and Congressmen.

This party business is a joke and we are brainwashed to believe in it. He is to represent everyone in his district. I salute him IF that is his real MO. I'd rather trash a partyliner that goes against their constituents like so many here in TN.

Jinjer and Dolfan, I agree with y'all completely. He's a snake and once a snake, always a snake. I didn't vote for him and I certainly will not vote for him now. I don't care what name he calls himself, he's still a snake.

Great posts y'all!

It wasn't a vote from conviction, though. He wavered and wavered until he was certain he'd have you know what to pay here and that it was steeper than any price he'd have to pay to Pelosi. And, no, he didn't vote against Obamacare. He voted for HR 3961, which was segregated out of the Obamacare bill in Congress and has a cost of $210 billion. He was part of the shell game that got the "cost estimate" of Obamacare below $1 trillion.

As for him being a doctor, he missed one of the few votes he's missed in Congress by not being present for a symbolic vote in support of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month. He's an oncologist. Not a good one, by reputation.

He also voted for a capital investments tax increase, a permanent increase, in exchange for a temporary and relatively small tax break for individuals and other breaks targeted with surgical precision for special minority groups.

He is a liar, plain and simple. He is not on our side. He has chosen sides already: his.

Hahaha.. Look all I can say is that TODAY ( Remember he WAS A DEMOCRAT - that by nature means they have a giant "L" next to their name ).. BUT.. I have a much more favorable opinion of him right now based on what FQ is trying to say ( voting against his party recently ) in a time when overwhelming peer pressure is to stay with the Obama Pack. In Reality.. His change will not do squat.. but again.. I AM PROUD of the fact that he has renounced his former association and is speaking out against the current direction of the country.

You have to give him credit for that... regardless of his past. And yes.. FQ.. I think it's another Tea Party result... absolutely yes.

His past? The vote where he helped the Democrats pull a sleight of hand to get the Obamacare bill below $1T was one month ago. By his own admission, it is the party that has moved from his values. One month ago, his value was to help them pull a trick on everyone and make it easier for them to pass the larger bill without his vote, giving him room to vote against it. By his own account, by his own record, that is his value. His new values have only happened since the Senate version of Obamacare has become destined to pass.

I don't have the mud on the bottom of a shoe for this guy.
