Lane Kiffin to USC

Postby Rob » January 12th, 2010, 6:24 pm

Lane Kiffin is going to be the new head coach at USC and what a staff he is assembling. His dad to be D/C Chow to be O/C and the former Ole Miss Coach O to the staff as well.

Who gets the UT job?

I'd try for Jeff Fisher but they are said to be targeting Muschamp from Texas.

UT fans have been ranting and steaming all week over Kiffin leaving and have talked how he deserted them, he was committed to UT, blah, blah, blah. Now Cutcliffe does the same to Duke and UT is happy.

The fact is most good coaches that want to coach are coaching and thus you have to hire them away from a school in order to get them. Kiffin was threatened and even some in the police department said they would pull him over and ticket him if he went 1 mph over the speed limit while leaving town.
I have piped unto you, and ye have not danced!

......or not. CNNSI is reporting he is happy at Duke and staying there. Wouldnt UT be a huge step up from Duke?

Yes it would, but why go there? The AD that is trying to hire you fired your long time friend and the former coach of the program, why do him a favor?

Well you have what Rob said but besides that there are a ton of other issues. One if DC had taken the job, he would be putting Duke in the same position that UT is not, Yes it would be easier for duke to get a lower level coach to move up but it would look bad on DC as not a man of his word.

Plus, it does not matter what anyone says, the UT coach will get 2 maybe 3 years, if the program is not at least in the same position that coach will be out and UT will be looking for a bigger and better name. UT has proven with Basketball that it is not opposed to to paying more than one coach at a time... At one time UT was paying for three basketball coaches all at the same time.

Head Coach at UT right now is not a NO WIN situation but it is as close as it can get

I just hope that no matter what happens this year, as long as they beat the kittens at the end of the year I will be happy

That streak may come to an end this year with Dooley Coaching the Vols.

as long as he wins that ONE game he will get a second year... if he loses that one in Kville he might as well pack his bags.

well UT is losing some but the kittens are losing a TON, so I think they will be hard pressed to get 5 wins next year the only win I think you can write in is Akron and Char Southern... Vandy needs to be in Pencil. Joker will be feeling Heat quick

@Louisville TOSS UP BUT I SAY L
Akron w
WKen TOSS UP
@UF L
@OM TOSS UP
AUB L
SC L
UGA L
@MSU TOSS UP
VAN W
CharSo W
@UT L

All that said UT has a killer sch Ut martin and Memphis look to be the only ones that should be gimmies and that is unsure about them.

But guess what Tony, that's why they play the games. As the old saying goes, on any given Saturday....... Personally, wouldn't hurt my feelings if they didn't win. But I think the AD at UT needed to hit a home run with this hire and I'm not sure he got a walk with Dooley. Just my opinion. But again, time will tell.

Kiffin was fools gold... I am not a 40D (pat forde) but this was the best line I have ever heard him say.

"some people are born and third base and go thru life thinking they hit a triple"

After looking for the schedule, UT will not have a good year. They have a Killer Hard schedule, Auburn and Ga Both will be going hard to prove this past season was a fluke and get them selves back in the hunt, BP at Arkansas will be better since their QB stayed and that is BP's bread and butter, That is why I think that if UT beats the kittens he will keep his job.

Joker on the other hand will get 2 maybe 3 seasons. Grandpa Brooks wanted to go out on top, it was common knowledge that if he had beat UT he would have announced his retirement that night and Give Joker the shot at a Bowl win, then no win for the kittens and Brooks stays.. then it was the same deal for the bowl game. I was told that Brooks wanted go into the season play the first game and beat UofL and then retire. Brainfart did not want to give him that. When UofL got Strong and started pulling in some good Assistant Coaches and some players who had been looking at FLA, Miami, Bama, Ga, UT.... He got some players that were committed to the kittens to commit to the Cards.

Brainfart really has been pushing Joker to keep many of the same staff, but he knows that Joker is gonna need good assistants so Brainfart pushed for him to get former UofL assistant (and son in law of Former Coach Joe B Hall) Mike Summers. some say he is going to be groomed to Jokers replacement. There are rumors that Randy Sanders wanted to be in that position but with the Hire of Summer there are Rumors that Randy Sanders is looking to go somewhere else. I have heard to sorta block this Brainfart is giving Summers and Sanders some good pay bumps and the Ole Wink that they will be the "man" when Joker is OUT.

Oh and for the Cards. I have met Stong and he appears to be a nice guy. I am not sure about his in game Coaching but he hit several home runs when it comes to Assistants, and he is getting a bunch of 4 and 5 star players.
