ImaPK,

From my perspective that's pretty ironic. The Son has made the Father known. Reject the Son and you don't have the Father. To which father do you refer?

From reading your posts I was expecting this.
Why is it that because a person is not a Christian that there are some who automatically spew that "you can't believe in God!"? Why is it ALWAYS that when you "reject" Christ that "GOD CAN'T TOUCH YOU"? Excuse me, but if my "master" is Satan where does the "good things" that I do come from? I may choose not to serve Christ but it DOESN'T take away my belief in HIM. OR MY FAITH IN HIM EITHER.

ImaPK,

I never 'spouted' that "you can't believe in God!". I'm not even sure what you mean by that statement. By putting "reject" in quotes do you mean to suggest that you don't reject King Jesus? Nor did I say that I believe that "GOD CAN'T TOUCH YOU". Nor do I think those whose master is the satan can't do good things. You are right to say that if you choose not to serve Christ it doesn't take away your belief in the One true God. The demons 'believe' and tremble...as you should. Nor do I think you can't do good things.

Try not to assume what I believe. So far you're not doing very well. Slow down and we can talk about this slowly, point by point,

No assumption on what you believe. There it is in black and white. You sound like FQ in that statement. If you have been on J2 any length of time you would know my stand. I have stated it more times then I care to count. For your sake I will state it one more time. I AM A SINNER. I make no excuses for it because it is the life I have chosen. I believe in the FATHER, SON, and the HOLY GHOST. I have NEVER been a member of ANY denomination though I grew up in COGOP. My parents were both ministers and my youngest brother is now one. I believe the way I believe not because of the way I was "raised" but in spite of the way I was "raised". I have read the Bible through several times and have asked questions of people, both in and out of, COGOP, TCOG, COG, AOG, Baptist, Methodist and numerous other denominations AND college instructors both secular and theological. I too have questioned Creationism vs Evolution and have my own "opinions" on the matter. I have questioned the "age" of the earth many times and still have not come to a "concrete conclusion". It is one of those things that I don't lose sleep over. You have brought up interpretation many times on this thread and as I know you will say about what I put in quotes at the beginning of this post I misinterpreted what you said there is the crux of ALL the problems with "OPINIONS"...it's ALL about INTERPRETATION by EACH individual. Who's right and who's wrong? When it comes to "theories" both sides are right AND both sides are wrong. Because once you have CONCRETE PROOF it's no longer a "theory" but FACT.

IMaPK:
I sure wish you would become a Christian. I knew your mom and dad and I have met you and your brothers a time or two. My heart always goes out to preachers' kids. I guess I feel that way because my dad was a PK and I have two children who are PKs.
I don't know what all causes preachers' kids to not want to serve God. Maybe it is the criticism their parents took or the feeling of being neglected in favor of church work. Maybe it is just the draw of the unrestrained life. I don't know but I do know what motivates preachers. We have God given responsibilities which we must attend to but it never changes the fact of how we feel about our children. Your parents were no different than me in the fact the Salvation of their children was/is worth more than life itself. Don't mistake responsibility for a lack of love and don't be confused by "Christians" who act awful toward their preachers. Most of the time they don't know what they're doing and ministers understand that. We can forgive them and we have to depend on our children to do the same. You may have been drawn away by the lure of sin. You may even feel your decision has been made long ago as to what path you'll travel. You may feel your mistakes have been too many and your sins too big but I want you to know God is rooting for you. Jesus "ever liveth to make intercession" for you. Your parents may be gone but their prayers are still chasing you. Unanswered at this time but still in the ears and mind of God.
I wrote this here instead of a PM because there may be other PKs out there. As a burdened father/preacher I want all of you to know, we are on your side, there is still a way to God, and God is rooting for you! He is not indifferent to your decision. He is rooting for you!
I hope this comes across right and I hope it doesn't seem like an invasion of your privacy. Just a concerned father projecting to another preacher's son.

Pastorbps, it came across alright, no invasion. :) I would have to say at one time alot of what you said might have been good reasons for me. But I learned early on that my parents had a "specialness" about them. You see, I am the only one of their kids who remembers when my parents were sinners(I was almost seven when they got saved). Even as sinners my parents were leaders amongst their peers. Believe it or not I was one of those kids that felt proud when my friends would say "I wish my parents were like yours." I was sort of a "fence sitter"(not sure which way I was gonna go in life) until something personal that happened in my life in December of 74 that really started me down the road I've chosen. It had nothing to do with my parents or church. It was a personal hurt. I said what the heck and for awhile I gave up on my ambitions that I had made. When I "woke up" I felt comfortable in some of the things that I was doing and didn't look back. Is that the way the devil works? Of course, I'm not that dumb.(though many would disagree  ) The only real problem I ever had as a preacher's kid was when people would say "With your knowledge of the Bible and the leadership qualities you have you'll grow up to be like your dad." I didn't feel resentment...I FELT FEAR! The funny thing is that I got the same kind of remarks about my atheletic ability by those who had known my dad "pre-preacher life."(he had been an above average athelete) In both cases those were "big shoes" to fill. Up until I was 18 I was fairly involved in church by choice. Sure I was "made to go" to church but I actually liked going. My best friend ever was a PK. My girlfriend was a church girl. I just chose a different path is all. Like you I have a "soft spot" for PKs cause I've been there done that.
