Online personalities are usually much different than talking to someone face to face. In previous Assemblies, we have met for lunch and dinner a few times. It was so nice to actually meet people and talk to them live. I got to meet quite a few on here and went to church at Dr Ron last year. I would say I went to church with Wendy & FQ, but I was not allowed in the nursery.

I'll be there, and yes we usually run into each other around the Assembly, plus meet for lunch & dinner a couple times over the week for those that can and are interested. It's been really nice to get to meet everyone.

I don't know if we'll have the kids with us, or if they'll stay with Gparents this time yet.

Flying in

Postby Pastor Gary » February 10th, 2010, 1:44 pm

This may be a question for Billy B, but I will start searching for flights in a few months and was wondering -- where would you fly into? Charlotte? How far and how easy is that drive?

There are 3 major airports that serve NC.

Greensboro PTI, Raleigh RDU and Charlotte CLT

Depending on the airlines Raleigh or Charlotte will be the
least expensive.

Greensboro airport is about 25 min from IGA location
Raleigh (I-40) is 1.25 hour drive and Charlotte (I-85) is 2 hours away.

Anytime we fly I check RDU first. I like there airport easy in and out.

Both Raleigh and Charlotte are hubs for certain airlines.
Greensboro is not hub.

Google Maps reports the following.

CLT Airport is 99 miles from Greensboro.
RDU Airport is 66 miles from Greensboro.

If the assembly comes to Louisville again, we will come to it! But I don't think we'll be coming to NC. But you all have fun and post pics!

I do not plan to attend any more assemblies. I am not a minister, just a member. The last assembly I attended was in Louisville. I was disappointed in the lack of attendance and zeal I discovered. I was shocked to find so few delegates in attendance. It seems that the assembly is now mostly attended by the ministry and the presbytary. Perhaps, this is what the intent is as instruction can be offered there. I don't know any members who now take their vacation to attend the assembly like years past. It is believed by some, that this was the intent of the leadership to reduce the mass number of delegates so business/doctrinal changes could be transacted without so much opposition. I guess that worked............

It is also postulated that the leadership wanted to Globalize the church and get it away from its Southern roots. Is that working? It does not seem to be working here as we are now down to 2 churches from 5!

Now I am in TCOG and we still take vacations to be at the assembly. We look forward to it all year and is really exciting anticipating seeing everyone, hearing great preaching and worship and of course the fellowship.
I am going to the COGOP assembly some days because I want to see some friends, meet a lot of great people on this forum. Hear some preaching, worship etc. Not to mention I live in the area so I will pop in and out while I am stopping in and out of business's for work
