I think that all sould go back and reread 1 Cor. 11: and start at verse 17 and finish the chapter. Pay special attention to verse 20. Sound like that some might be missing the point of "Sacrament of Communion".

I pray over every meal that I eat, but that is not communion.
God Bless

or maybe some need to read, study and understand the "love feast" agape, and how the "sacrament" was instituted in the first century church and how it has been corrupted and changed from that over the course of 2000 years.
Thanks, Brent "RamboPreacher" Hoefling

And how it in and of itself has become the religion.

On one hand we have churches doing drive thru communion and on the other it really becomes the actual blood of Christ.

Give me an active relationship with Jesus any day over acts of rememberance.

It makes me wonder why people have to be reminded in the first place. I mean I think about it constantly, don't you?
What we need here is a good revival! lol

False teachers and teachings will always abound. However, we cannot allow them to influence us to neglect the things that Christ commanded us to do.

Why take communion as a sacred act of rememberance? Simply put....because Christ "said so."

(Luk 22:19) And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.

(1Co 11:24) And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

(1Co 11:25) After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

He gave & set the example and said, "This do." He didn't say "constantly think about it"...He said, "do" it.
I don't have to prove God's existance. He's already proven that. I just have to prove that He lives within me.

For the GRACE of God that BRINGETH Salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, DENYING ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should LIVE soberly, righteously, and godly, IN THIS PRESENT WORLD; Titus 2:11-12

However....looking back over the original post of this thread. No, I did not observe the actual Passover day...(or other feasts). (Unless our Communion at church happens to fall on that particular day.)

Absolutely if done in remembrance of Him.

The important thing to know is that none of this done right or wrong will upset, make angry our amazing God.

Rambo some need read and understand about the "Blood" and its relation to our relationship with Christ. How that when God forgives them from sin they stay out of sin for ever. No body's crendentals nor their theology will over rule the Word of God. Many will have it their way while here on earth but the day will come when we all will stand before God and all that will stand will be the Word of God.

The "love feast" as you have pointed out has nothing to do with the "Sacrament of Communion" and I will add "Feet Washing" as when Jesusset in order bth of them. If it don't fit your way of life or theology then that your lost.

Lu 22:19
And he took bread, and gave thanks, and brake it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.Lu 22:20
Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you.

Joh 13:14
If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
Joh 13:15
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.

Many people have all kinds of religions but it will take a saved experience to pass through those heavenly gates. Following God's word and Jesus's example means mre to me then all of the so call theology. Got to go service tonight.

man shake the religious tree and watch what comes out.lol

Maybe that's the difference, I have never treated or thought of communion and feetwashing as a commandment that if I didn't do I wouldn't make it to heaven. Leave it to the TCog.

I have always looked at it as a privilege, I just can't stand what the religious and the nutjobs turn it into.

Scooter, I want to believe that you are a right square guy. But from the way that you have posted this post kinda make me think that you may have a problem accepting the Word of God as being true over ideals and theories. The following verse is what Jesus said to Peter when he thought he wasn't worthy for Christ to wash his feet and now comes a bunch of ladder day theologian that disputes what Christ had to say about it. I'll take the word of God over all the opinions that get posted. Makes me wonder just who is the nut. Na I don't wonder I know and it not me.

John 13:8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me.

Response: Yeah that's me , you got me, who am I fooling.

For the same religious spirits to turn Christianity into simply a new set of religious practices, laws and commands is no surprise to me.

Uh, when the WORD made Flesh says "this do in remembrance of me"...that is a commandment.

1Co 11:24-30
(24) And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
(25) After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

WHY?

(26) For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

I will agree with you...IT IS a Privilege for Christians.

(27) Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

(28) But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
(29) For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
(30) For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

Christ did not institute a commandment to observe the Passover. He commanded us to remember His sacrifice through the Lord's Supper.

Why? Because He said so.

(edit:) Like my 91 year old mother in-law says regarding the scriptures: "It's in there...I didn't put it there....But it's there." ;)

If I could offer my few thoughts on this, and a bit off topic, but yesterday evening I decided to attend one of my grandmother's Lord's Evening Meal/Memorial Meal/Communion services at the Kingdom Hall after her asking me for years. Since I had not visited a Jehovah's Witness service since about age 5, I really was in for something interesting. As I sat in the building, I watched how the congregants partook of the bread and the wine. They partook as observers only. They pretty much wasted good bread and I cautiously say good wine, to stick on a plate and in a glass and pass from person to person. No one ate or drink anything. I looked at everyone's faces, and there was no expression of joy or remembrance of the joy that was set before Christ (in my opinion) on their faces. The first thing that came to my mind was John chapter 6 and Matthew 23:27. In all of their passing of the sacraments, Jesus said they have no life! I am just glad to be counted worthy because of His Blood, to even partake in the remembrance of His sacrifice on Calvary!

Sure He did, at least a Christian version of it. Indeed, the whole Passover festival, with it's three feasts, and various customs, typify and commemorate the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ. Nevertheless, on the specific point of communion, the Lord's Supper is a Christianized Passover observance.

What bread is His body? What cup is His blood?
    The Passover bread and cup.

What meal was He eating with His disciples?
    The Passover.

What feast commemorates Christ as the lamb of God?
    Passover.

During what festival time was unleavened bread instituted and used?
    Passover.

On what night did Christ institute the keeping of the supper (at least in an abbreviated form) in a Christian context ?
The same night he was betrayed - Passover.

What feast day does apostolic precedent show us keeping the communion in connection with?
    Passover.

What does history tell us was the day the early church observed communion and commemorated the Passion of Christ, as handed down and taught from the apostles themselves, until changed by the council of Nicaea?
    Passover.

Once you peel back the centuries of wrong practice, Catholic influence, antisemitism, etc., and start considering the 1st century Jewish cultural context it is surprisingly clear to see from just a casual reading of NT Scripture.

Am I saying we have to keep all the Jewish customs and Seder traditions? No. What I am saying is that we were meant to take communion on Passover.

Just like Israel remembered liberation from Egypt & the blood of paschal lambs on Passover, we now remember it's greater purpose in Christ, liberation from sin & the blood of the true Lamb.
