My long-time primary tech guy, Steve, moved with his wife to MO recently. We are still sorting out the who-does-what now to distribute his role. We use a small video camera donated by RAMBO (shout out!) as a production pass-through... it takes the live analog video from the switcher and converts it to digital video with Firewire output to the streaming laptop. (I just lost all the non-techie readers in one sentence...)
ANYway...
My daughter's boyfriend is helping edit the services to 00:58:30 for TV broadcast, and that is done (currently) by extracting mini-DV video recorded on that camera... but nobody reminded him that "Oh, by the way, we need that camera at church Sunday..." -- and his dad is a Pastor, so he was at Dad's church when we noticed the camera was not on site.
Bottom line, the only work-around we could figure out last minute was an audio-only webcast with a "Sorry - technical difficulties" sign.
The OLD micro-manager, Type-A leader would have wrung my hands and gone ballistic, but I have apparently (A) learned to be a better leader, and/or (B) aged and mellowed.
Pretty sure I've mellowed, because I just shrugged and said, "Oh, well..."
(...and it was a pretty good message, too...)
