Review of Church

Postby Martha » September 27th, 2010, 6:06 am

I decided yesterday to visit Chase Valley United Methodist Church, which is near my home. Here's what I found.

I was greeted at the entrance by a gentleman who held the door open for me. There was a coffee station in the lobby and I was greeted by another gentleman. Upon entering the sanctuary I was greeted by two ladies and invited to sit by another lady. My estimate of attendance, about 75 to 100.

The music and worship was good. All contemporary music. Good worship band. Songs were easy to sing. Seemed to be rather conservative people but some were raising hands in worship.

After the first song the pastor said to greet people around you. I had people from several isles over walk over and introduce themselves.

The pastor's message was very good and related to what I was experiencing in my life.

I was invited to stay for a meeting concerning a pumpkin patch the church is having in October. They will be selling pumpkins for a fund raising project. After the meeting several ladies stopped to talk to me.

I also was invited to come back in the afternoon for a blessing of the animals. Since I'd never been to a animal blessing ceremony, I decided to go. There were dogs of every size and color there. Oh, and one rat. I had fun petting the dogs and remembering my cats who have gone to pet heaven.

Chase Valley church seems to be very active in ministry to the community. The information in the welcome package indicated they have a food pantry, possibly a clothes closet (not sure if they have one at the church or if they donate to some place else,) small group meetings, and mission involvement. They will be having a fall festival on Saturday during the time of selling the pumpkins.

Would I go again? Absolutely!

Great review. It shows me where we need to make some adjustments.
