don't need to. it's on my phone, my ipad, my laptop, and all the actual paper version of the Bibles I own.

never understood why pastors and teachers are so determinant about memorization of scripture, adn starting with the books of the Bible.

Hey, Paul -- you got me. How? :)

We're going to a Walk Thru The OT seminar later this month, and they have one for kids, too, that we're taking my daughter to that day. Walk Thru The Bible is a very interesting tool; I'm personally looking into it with an eye toward being trained as a WTTB instructor this summer. Maybe. My wife's interested in that, too.

Also, have you seen BibleArc.com?

I confess my ignorance

Google revealed little, except the name Dr. John Hannah, a retired professor from Dallas Seminary. I took an American Church History under Dr. Hannah. Fine man. Knows more hymns by heart than anyone except Phil Hoover. :wink:
"God is excited to show you mercy. He rises to give you His compassion." (Isaiah 30:18)

"For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous;
you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12)

Developed by Dr. John Fryman Dallas theological Seminary

A very comprehensive yet simply formula to understanding the over all picture, theme of scriptures.

C = Creation ( eternity past)
7 = is broken down to 4 people and 3 societies
S= Silence between the testaments
J= Jesus or the New Testament and the finished work of Christ and eternity future

the 4 people are Abraham, Joesph, Moses and Joshua
the 3 societies are anarcy ( Judges ) royality ( Saul, David, Solomon) and Capitiviy

Of course under the main 10 folders are subfolders but facinating at how easy it is to retain and how indepth it really becomes.

Interwoven are the covenants, Gen.12:1-3,13:14-16,15:9-18 then Duet30:1-10; 2Sam 7:3-15 and Jer. 31:30-34 These four promises drive the biblical events then, now and future.
And to learn both the blood and legal linage of Christ.
Very effective tool to help people see the plan of God for mankind from eternity past to eternity future.

My personal excitement is that I have given permission by Dr. Fryman to use the material, teach it,conduct seminars, and all the copyrights. It has been developed into 29 languages to date. We are currently implementing it in Burma and China. I knew my Baptist Seminary training would come in handy some day... :)

Confusion comes from not knowing the word..Not understanding the over all plan of God. Because people have little or no understanding of scriptures they become subject to false teaching. Being able to know and understand Gods plan, his covenants, his promises, to see the finished work of Christ in scriptures....gives people the ability to say..wait...that does not fit...

A few problems RamboPreacher that I have observed having been in full time ministry for more than 44 years, having ministered in countries around the world, having started bible schools in eight countries and having graduated more than a thousand pastors to date (simply saying, I am not a novice at this)

#1 Evangelist who throw scriptures around, out of context to get their point across. And in some case barely use the scriptures.
#2 Bible teachers who are so analitical that they destroy any life that might be in a passage of scriptures, and only confuse people further.
#3 Pastors who preach only the party Line

If you noticed the subject: it was learning the scriprures not memorization. Their ia a big difference between memorization and knowing/learning.
You cannot effectively love and minister to others when you are obsessed with protecting

and preserving yourself.

I agree.
I have never understood those that say that you must memorize. knowing/applying whats there is more important than knowing that its there.

Maybe it is too fine a line, Rambo. I don't personally see a real distinction in memorizing and learning if the intent in memorizing the Scripture is to appropriate God's truth and its power to my life. Otherwise, I don't really know anybody who memorizes for the sake of memorizing anything. Do you? Really?

i do know several who memorize and "know" a LOT of God's Word, but aren't Christian.

I hear preachers and teachers still push that you must memorize verses. not that its a bad thing, but there is no emphasis on what it means or what it is about, only that if you memorize it, then you have Gods Word in you. :(
