Sherman Powell, Jr., who represented Daniel Wade Moore in three trials (1st conviction overturned for prosecutorial misconduct, 2nd mistried after hung jury, 3rd acquitted) regarding the murder of Karen Tipton, died this morning at home. He was 66. He was not suffering from any illness as far as I know. I talked to him just this week. He actually represented my father in my parents' divorce in 1973.
His burial is tomorrow. A storied family of attorneys. Sherman was nicknamed "Brother" and was a character in many, many ways, infamously so. And, his death comes as a shock to me personally. I really was fond of the guy and admired his work as an attorney. He was a lawyer's lawyer, IMO.
Pray for his family to find comfort in Christ.
