Mission Trip to India

Postby Billy n NC » May 14th, 2011, 12:27 pm

Just thought I would share some info about my wife's recent trip to India that Sis Joyce Cannon sent me. She was there for 1 month in March.

1. Ministry to children. In Delhi, Rajahmundry, Balangir, and Birmitrapur she used her giftedness to minister directly to the children through the Word and through prayer. In Birmitrapur she had to minister impromptu - and what a ministry! The Holy Spirit came down in the small bedroom. Children were praying, for themselves and each other. It was powerful!

2. Ministry for children. In Paradip she taught adults how to engage children in learning. We were teaching them how to conduct Kid's Clubs and she joined with local teaches and did an excellent job instructing the leaders.

3. Children's Home Staff Instruction. In Delhi, Rajahmundry, Balangir, and Bhubaneshwar she shared her expertise in dealing with children who have suffered trauma, their unique behavioral situations and how to discipline and positively grow the children emotionally, spiritually and physically. In every case it was more than successful. The staff discussed various situations with her and she confidently gave them suggestions. So many of them remarked that they were approaching the problems in the wrong way, and were so grateful for the insight she gave to them.

4. Ministry to adults. Our thrust through Orissa was to put a fire in the bones of the believers to make disciples. Little did we know how God had planned to use the diversity of ministries: Elizabeth, Pastor Daniel, and Joyce to accomplish His purposes. Elizabeth had come prepared to share that God had a special purpose for everyone. The Holy Spirit had given Joyce a 3 prong message: His coming is at the door, Redeem the time, Quit trying to get your vision and capture His vision for your ministry! Pastor Daniel came with the expertise and passion for the basics of discipleship. In Balangir among about 20 pastors and lay leaders, in Paradip with 2 congregations, in Bhubaneshwar with some Bible students, 3 pastors and about 13 young men, in Rourkela with a conference room full of engineering students and 3 pastors, and in Delhi with a young congregation, Sis. Elizabeth was the powerful opener that the Holy Spirit used to clearly impress on each person to be true to the purpose God has for their life.

5. Individual ministry. From women to children to ministers, she shared so many times. In Delhi she did one on one sessions with the older girls. In Rajahmundry with the women.

Of course, there were also the fun things, passing out the clothes to the children, and shoes, and chocolates. Singing with them and teaching new songs.

She is planning and hoping to go back when funds are available. The door that opened up for her to go to India has provided her a 10 year Visa to travel into India.

I am proud of what my wife is doing in the country of India. Working with 5 different orphanages with about 90 children. She has been home over a month now but I am still hearing new stories of ministry. She hopes to be able to share her ministry in India in churches and conferences in the future.
