Again Pastor Ables you fail to understand: IF YOU USE YOUR SCRIPTURE to say that God ALWAYS blesses EVERYONE IN this life, you ARE cherry picking.

God blesses WHOM HE DESIRES and allows OTHERS to be stoned to death, beaten to death or gnawed to shreds by lions.

Do you agree or not?

It is IMPROPER use of the scripture to say GOD ALWAYS blesses in this life.

Preaching ONE without the other is A FALSE GOSPEL.

THAT is my point.

And it is DONE. AD Nauseum. A local AOG megachurch even preaches Success in Life as a result of Salvation. NOt in the sense that no matter how your life is you are a success because you have obtained salvation, but that BECAUSE you have salvation you will be a success IN THIS LIFE.

I agree with this particular thought, I think. Yet, even blessings from God can be a subjective thought in the eyes of the recipient.

For example, one may view a blessing from God as waking up each morning and breathing. While another may view a blessing as a hug from their 4 year old child. Another may view blessings from God as being healthy. Still another may view blessing as having a job in a troubled economy. Finally, you have those with the extreme blessing views of wealth and promotion.

Who are we to determine in the particular case of any specific individual at any given time? I do agree that it can't be viewed as a doctrine of blessings at will and command.

Well Pastor I am ecstatic that we have found something to agree on.

Even BAD situations can turn out to be a blessing.

How do you define that GOOD?

For instance if your wife begins cheating on you, you suffer a financial setback that ruins you finances irrepairably, your kids begin acting up in school and you begin to suffer tremors in your hands which make it impossible to do the things you love to do HOW would that work within the framework of ONLY GOOD you have outlined?

Or are you saying BECAUSE of that Good such things WILL NOT happen?

Gerald,
I would absolutely love to! We live in a fallen evil world and tragically terrible things do happen.. BUT we confuse whom is at fault. Not being grounded in this fact can cause double mindedness. Thinking that God in one moment will bless you and in the next will curse you is insane. It will cause you to view God as a cruel fearful task master... waiting to whack you with a large stick! When TRUTH is that perfect love casts out all fear. Jesus came to REVEAL THE FATHER to us. JESUS SAYS THE FATHER JUDGES NO ONE. That is TRUTH.

Then whom do we blame? It can be shockingly results of our own decisions first and then the enemy of our salvation - whom LOVES to hurt you to the core and accuse God of causing it -- when it's nothing further from TRUTH.. God by covenant of His Own Choice thru Jesus is to do me Good. THAT IS TRUTH.

Paul said that God gave us His most precious gift EVER.. Why then will he not give us all things? God is not schizophrenic!! He sent His SON TO PROVE THAT!

It comes down to having a revelation of His LOVE for you. He cut covenant with Himself to restore relationship with you while you were a rank sinner. Wow! Amazing LOVE AND MERCY! Jesus said that He would NEVER leave us or forsake us... Never. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal this to you. It's more than a head knowledge it's a heart knowledge.

THAT is my definition of The Goodness of God.

David had a glimpse of this Goodness and He wrote songs and praises to this effect. Remember he was a man after Gods OWN HEART.... Get it?

I would love to extensively talk with you more about this. He's that Good. You can trust him 100%.

John 9:3
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Okay.

God has the power to stop the enemy at every turn.

Scripture is full of such examples.

When the enemy hurts us, and God could stop it but dosent, how do you rationalize placing no responsibility at his doorstep?

If you know someone is going to steal your wifes car, and you do nothing to stop them and sit and watch it happen, do you not bear some blame?

Because I know my Father.

Jeremiah 32:41
Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good

He rejoices over me! Whoo Hoo!! That thinking above is double mindedness in it's raw form. How can you fully understand the LOVE of Christ if you think that Christ is punishing you at ever turn?

Jesus said that the Father and I are one ( Jn 10:30 ). If you can get a visual image of Christ causing all that "really horrible damage" to your life ( by causing or not stopping it ) then how can you relate that to His perfect love? How can you not Fear Him as a cruel taskmaster? Hebrews 1:3 says that Jesus is the very DNA, CORE ESSENCE of the Father. So... Instead let's see TRUTH on exactly how Jesus/God does things...

Acts 10:38 (KJV)
38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

What you have to understand is that this is BY HIS OWN CHOICE. THat makes my spirit rejoice! See if you can grab this rephrase... "If God has showed you mercy ONCE.. he'll do it forever". Because David said "The Lord is GOOD and His Mercies Endure Forever"

Jesus saw the same critical scriptures that you will probably keep posting and instead revealed a LOVING, MERCIFUL, LONG SUFFERING, PATIENT, KIND, ABUNDANTLY GENEROUS .... FATHER. Then he showed us exactly whom He was. Then the RELIGIOUS killed him for it... because it didn't match what they understood.

Paul says the Natural Man can't see this. It's spiritually discerned.

1 Corinthians 2:14-16 (KJV)
14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

He goes onto say about having the MIND OF CHRIST in verse 16. Amazing!

I will be exuberantly happy to continue this. Ask the Holy Spirit to REVEAL the Goodness of your Heavenly Father to you. John 15:15 - No longer do I call you servants because they don't know the Lord and what he does... and I have the ability to have all things known to me ---- and the first is whom HE is.

It will change you forever and ever and ever.... David understood this.
