Children's Ministry

Postby Shellie » January 23rd, 2012, 2:42 am

I don't know if I shared with you all or not, but back in September I was appointed Children's Ministry Director for the state of Florida. I was also appointed Hot Shot Camp Director. Hot Shot Camp is for ages 5-7.

My vision for the children in the state of Florida is:

E. K. W. I. P. Endowing Kids with Involvement and Purpose

My goal is to quit entertaining our kids and start training them. I don't want the church to just raise up saved kids; I want us to raise up leaders.

Anyway, said all this to ask if there is anyone out there with ideas, thoughts, or encouragement?

Websites that you have found helpful? Authors that you have found helpful. Anything of this nature.

BTW, my theme for Hot Shot Camp this year is, "Shine, Shine, Shine!" and will center around teaching them that even they can evangelize, witness, and make a difference.

I felt compelled to answer.

Seek to raise grounded leaders based on Truth. Teach these Children how to listen to the Holy Spirit. Jesus said that He will guide you in ALL TRUTH. Not just truth as it relates to religious matters... ALL TRUTH. wow.

John 16:13-1 (MSG)
13-15 "But when the Friend comes, the Spirit of the Truth, he will take you by the hand and guide you into all the truth there is. He won't draw attention to himself, but will make sense out of what is about to happen and, indeed, out of all that I have done and said. He will honor me; he will take from me and deliver it to you. Everything the Father has is also mine. That is why I've said, 'He takes from ME and delivers to YOU.'

That is an internal compass that will NEVER ever fail you. A direct relationship to Spirit, to Jesus, to the Father. The Holy Spirit is God. We take this amazing GIFT and push him in the back closet until only when we have exhausted all avenues first. It should be the first and last thing we try.

The SPIRIT will show us what is FREELY GIVEN from God just as Jesus did. It will reveal God to these Children if you can show them.

1 Corinthians 2:10-13 (MSG)
10-13 The Spirit, not content to flit around on the surface, dives into the depths of God, and brings out what God planned all along. Who ever knows what you're thinking and planning except you yourself? The same with God—except that he not only knows what he's thinking, but he lets us in on it. God offers a full report on the gifts of life and salvation that he is giving us. We don't have to rely on the world's guesses and opinions. We didn't learn this by reading books or going to school; we learned it from God, who taught us person-to-person through Jesus, and we're passing it on to you in the same firsthand, personal way.

So teach them to hear that Amazing voice! It's definitely SPEAKING because the Bible says it is. We just are not sometimes listening or have other agenda's for God. Find out what He wants.. how? By listening to the Spirit!!

Hebrews 3:7 (ASV)
7 Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit saith, To-day if ye shall hear his voice,

Remember that the ENEMY speaks to us the same way that the Spirit does. Not in King James OLD English.. but directly into your being. How do we tell the difference? It's no condemnation in Christ Jesus as a believer!

Remember. It's not by our determination, not by our grit, not by our sweat. It's by HIS SPIRIT we learn who we are and how to FIGHT the enemy. Give them that lifelong GIFT.

Zechariah 4:6... saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT, saith Jehovah of hosts.
Chris -

... Behold, the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world!
