PA, you're the one that has to have Rice on the ticket though she's in support of women's rights to infanticide or Powell on the ticket though he endorsed the Commie that we have in office today.

I suppose under your argument a woman that has abortions could say that we mischaracterize her morals and values as well.

I wouldn't vote for Romney if Billy Graham was on the ticket, but abortion wasn't the original issue was it? You are the one that made it all about the abortion issue. Sure, the abortion issue is extremely important and close to the heart of all Christians, but we both know that electing a president can't be based upon any one single issue --- moral or economic. Neither would a pro-life president be able to singlehandedly change the nation's moral landscape.

I simply stated that we need someone on the ticket with international policy experience. My opinion is that Rice or Powell would fill that position well.

So will you vote for Romney if Rice is on the ticket?

Your calling people by their last name only reflects a thuggishness that you may want to correct.

That lack of respect and decorum for others doesn't sit well with me.

Excuse me Brother Hoover. Speaking of thuggishness; have you called anyone at home lately or stalked by their house?

I thought you were offended? Have you prayed back through yet?

PA, there is a great chance that I will not vote for Romney, but will abstain completely, if Rice is on the ticket.

Again, Powell endorsed Obama in 2008. His foreign policy is a joke. Rice considers Pakistan an allie. How's that working out for us, Afghanistan, or the nice doctor that outted Bin Laden?

"Phil" is sufficient.

I would take Secretary/Retired General Powell's or Secretary, Doctor Rice's foreign policy knowledge and experience over anyone elses....including mine or yours.

FQ,
Yes, I found your remark to be offensive. Our vote is the way we tell our leaders (both on the government level and the political party level) what we think, and who we find acceptable. If PA makes the choice to abstain from voting that is his choice alone, and an exercise of his voting rights. An external attempt to pressure him into abstaining because his views don't match yours is offensive.

The two party system we have is greatly flawed, however it can be fixed. The fix will not happen over the course of one election but can be accomplished over time. Personally I promote "write-in" votes. If enough people that abstain from voting would instead write-in their choice then the party leaders would begin to realize that there is a large number of voters that find the parties candidates unacceptable. The write-ins will not change the results of any election, but it would send a clear signal of the discontent among voters.

If you cannot support either candidate, then I encourage you to exercise your voting right by using the write-in option.

I've deliberately avoided posting on this thread for a lot of reasons, none of which any of you want to hear. But, I'll say this: abstention is an expression of political will. The lack of political will speaks to the powers that be. Convincingly? No. Persuasively? No. But, a principled abstention can be a clear voice. Even a prophetic one. When Jesus had His moment to make a "political statement" before Pilate --- and the occasion was ripe for it --- He remained silent. We "quote" that silence to this very day. And, as a lamb before its shearers is dumb, so He opened not His mouth....as a lamb before its shearers (government) is filled with the Word of God, arguing with the shearers about how they shear and who the best shearer is is useless in terms of God's sovereign kingdom. Jesus IS the King. The only potentate is God. That is the message we're called and commanded to spread. Actually, not voting can be a louder proclamation of that message than any vote could be said to be in relation to any lesser message.
Human government bears the same relation to hell as the church bears to heaven. (David Lipscomb, On Civil Government, 72).

I did serve in the Army and I believe that everyone should vote. But if you can't vote for Romney, then I would appreciate that you didn't vote as I really don't want him for four more years and feel that he is not any good for this country. His socialist and communistic ideals and ways scare me for this country.
God Bless

The vast majority of Americans who are eligible to vote do abstain and it has only gotten us further down the road from liberty and godliness. That argument just doesn't jive Dolfan.

TW, write ins don't work and get tossed to the side. You can write in whoever you please, Ron Paul, Donald Trump, Condi Rice, etc. and it gets "trashed" for the most part. It certainly has no effect. If they aren't on the ballot, haven't qualified legally as candidates, haven't gone through the process then it's the same as abstaining. I know this first hand because someone I know very well who was a local democrat volunteer expressed that they were writing in Hillary in 2008 over McCain or Obama and they were told by the state that it would be set aside, counted, but NEVER could Hillary win EVEN IF she had more write in votes than McCain or Obama.

Also on write ins the name has to be spelled exactly correct which sadly difficults the process for far too many Americans. If we will recall there was a write in campaign in Alaska in 2010 where the "Rino" came against the Tea Party candidate who had beaten the "Rino" in the primary. Said "Rino" had to register as a write in candidate before any votes were allowed for her.

Phil, again, Powell and Rice are Liberals. Powell admitted to lying to the UN over Iraq and there is no way God will justify, honor, or bless such activity and Rice, for the umpteenth time, is Pro-Choice and God certainly isn't in that court.

Not voting has done nothing to make people less godly. People are who they are because of their hearts and lives, not because of what government does or doesn't do. See, this argument of yours -- that political activity is a shaper of our holiness --- is precisely the problem. You are arguing, whether you realize it or not, that government IS the means of expressing and living out our sanctification. More particularly, you say that a specific kind of political activity is "godly" and another kind is "ungodly". It is the conservative Christian catch-22. You want less government of a certain kind and more of another kind, and "real Christians" must politic and they must do so in line with a particular view of preferred government.

Well....hogwash. Jesus rejects it ALL. When He returns, He will have none of it. None. Zero. There is no government that approximates or imitates or even vaguely resembles His. He is unique, there is no other. And, ever since Israel chose to have a king for themselves other than God alone, it has been the error of the people called of God that continually seeks power of the idol of government. It is this idol that blinds Christians to the truth about the nature of power and why Jesus is the sole power bearer. All authority is His. None belongs to any nation, no political ideal, no government. All of them, including ours, are equally marked for condemnation.

Jesus expressed His power on Earth at the moment that Earth's powers arrayed against Him. How? By quietly laying His life down. That is our calling and there is no other biblical expression of politically proper action than our own yielding of ourselves and our preferences and our ability to "control" or influence the affairs of men. There is no Christian "position" on worldly matters. Government is not only not our master, it is not our business. Government is the frame of dead men and dead works over a dead world. We are not of it.

So, yes, it "jives". The work of the Christian body is to go into all the world and make disciples of Jesus. There is no ballot, no vote, no public policy, no regulation, no regulatOR, no philosophy that is other than utterly vain and useless in His presence.
Human government bears the same relation to hell as the church bears to heaven. (David Lipscomb, On Civil Government, 72).

Secretary Powell did not DELIBERATELY LIE to the United Nations. He only spoke the information given to him...brilliant man with superior foreign policy knowledge and experience. He also has SUPERIOR military policy, knowledge and experience.

Secretary Rice is a brilliant woman, with SUPERIOR Foreign policy knowledge and experience.

Rick Santorum on the national ticket this year.

Not sure Mitt Romney wants him there, though.
