Over the last few years it seems like the business decision making has changed dramatically. Don't get me wrong, I do not miss the days of bickering and fighting back and forth. However, it seems that more and more decisions are being made for us at the International level.
I agree with Pastor G. that the international presbyters are not the decision making body of this church. In truth, I do not think the members are the decision making body of this church. It seems to me that once we get to an assembly the decisions have already been made and we are simply going through a formality of casting our proxies.
It bothered me this year that when the votes were taken that many people did not have their proxy accepted (MAT is a prime example) as well as one overseer who said he simply "ran out of time" and was unable to cast all of the proxy votes for his state.
It was as if it was no big deal that some of the proxies did not get in to the count.
Anyway, that's my 2 cents for what its worth. Just glad to be back home with my local church focusing on the harvest in our area!
It's harder to kidnap fat people!
