What if your boss asked you to take a job at a strip club? The work you need to do is in the dressing or uh... undressing room!

What would you do?

Postby Ilovebigcats » September 29th, 2004, 11:53 am

OKay so my husband has been online alot lately..... He lost his job. He refused to do a job at a strip club. The electrical panel was in the dressing/undressing room. It was about 7pm when the call came. The pot smokin, jerk boss was in one of his moods and got ticked that NC wouldn't go. They lost the job. The axe fell on NC on his birthday friday. What would you have done?

The job

Postby Pastor Gary » September 29th, 2004, 12:07 pm

He followed his conscience and convictions... )))))SHRUG(((((

It would probably not have bothered me at all to go and fix the electrical. Most of the wiring closets seem to be, for some reason, in bathrooms, often the WOMEN's bathroom. ?????

One could honestly see it as an opportunity to walk with integrity and show the girls how a Christian man of integrity behaves, I suppose. But if a man has a weakness in the area of sexual temptation, and it would have been a problem to keep his mind on his work…

...Along with fixing dinner, washing dishes, doing laundry, scrubbing toilets, mopping the floors and taking out the garbage. :D :D

He'll find another job soon enough.

I have a Excellent husband! While I was prego he did all the washing, scrubbing, changing and chasing all them kids ...Along with fixing dinner, washing dishes, doing laundry, scrubbing toilets, mopping the floors and taking out the garbage. Since he lost his job he gets up with the kids and fixes breakfast and let's me sleep late! He did the dishes today too. I did the laundry last night when I had insomnia. He does lots of my wifely work by choice. Only thing he don't do is doodie's! And if you saw how bad he is at doodie's you wouldn't want him changing doodie's either. Poor kids! hehe! He changes wet ones. Of course Silas changes his own pull up usually if it's just wet. hmmmm! That boy needs some potty trainin! That is something dear old dad can do!

BTW you didn't answer my poll? What do you think? How would you feel if you saw your pastor goin into a strip club? Would you think WOW he is such a strong christian he can go in their and work without a second thought or would you think OH MY GOODNESS!!! WHAT IN THE WORLD???

I think your poll asks the wrong question.

You want an answer in general or specific to this case?

If my Pastor had to be bi-vocational because the church couldn't fully support him, and I saw him going into a strip club with his tool belt on and a ladder in his hands, I would assume he was there on business.

(I would give a man I love and trust the benefit of the doubt.)

If he was a cop or a fireman going into the same place, would it change the situation?

I heard a guy speak who got saved in new York City. IN the evenings and on his lunch breaks, he would go donw to Times Square, the heart of the sleaze district, and hand out tracts. He said he went into the strip clubs and handed tracts to the strippers. He said you knew they'd have to read them right then and there; they didn't have any pockets....
Why is it that bad decisions seem to make to most interesting testimonies?

I believe the circumstances involved would be the key here. As pastor Gary said, what if you were a policeman on a call? or What if you were a chaplain called there to pray with someone in distress? As a rule, I will not eat at Hooters, nevertheless, I believe we should leave the doors open for the possibility of specific ministry needs, etc.

OH, I assumed this was like a long term assignment.

Just to go in and do a repair, That would really depend on the person. I think Pastor Gary is right we need to be better at giving our brothers and sisters the benefit of the doubt rather than being quick to accuse, but we also need to use a little wisdom not to "let our good be evil spoken of" as well.

was this emergency work that had to be done right at that moment or could this have been done the next morning when it wasn't "normal buisness hours"?

a one-time deal (i.e., repairman, etc)--then take a fellow worker for ACCOUNTABILITY PURPOSES with you, if at all possible.

a long-term employment situation---Nope, not gonna do it, regardless of how "strong" I am (or think I am.)

The Scriptures tell me to "flee" the occasions for lust....and that's exactly what I would be doing....fleeing.

I answered other, because the answers you posted made some assumptions or presuppositions that I didn't like.

seemed that it was saying:
1. yes, go for it, I like watching naked people and don't see a problem with it, it's not a sin.
2. no, I have a problem with pron and I don't want to be temted with commiting that sin.
or 3. other. :D

the situation is completely relational and should be based on personal conviction. even in these "extreme" circumstances (striper club), we need to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

Some men could handle going to a place like that, doing their job and maintaining a correct Christian attitude and integrity. Some couldn't. I guess personaly, I wold have to say that if it were a one time job, or something that wasn't my daily job, I would go ahead and do the work and be diligent about getting it done as quickly, and carefully as possible (so I didn't have to return). I (again, personal opinion, here) would never work for a place like that, though as my full-time job.

In the case of NC, I believe he did what was right for him and that's between him and God. I also believe that if his heart was right in it, and he believes his steps were "ordered of the Lord", then God will bless him for that choice and you will be better off because God has something better for him.
Thanks, Brent "RamboPreacher" Hoefling
