Soggy vs Crunchy

Postby Paully_44 » February 27th, 2006, 10:12 am

Ok, forget about all the other important topics of polity, mergers, swimming, etc. The question we all want to know is....

How do you like your cereal?

Soggy or Crunchy?

Me... I prefer to fill a bowl, pour on the milk and put it back in the fridge for 10-15 minutes or so. Frosted flakes are the best that way.

soggy is nasty

Postby Pastor Gary » February 27th, 2006, 10:53 am

"If thou shoudst practice the abomination of the heathen tribes and allow thy cereal to become soggy, thou shoudst spew it out of thy mouth forthwith, for verily I say unto thee, soggy cereal is destestably vomitrocious, and is not pleasing in my sight. Yea, and the same goes for lukewarm milk. Return to thy first love, crunchy cereal that thou mayest perchance be pleasing in the eyes of the Lord."

That's Bible, isn't it? Well, shoulddn't it be, anyway??

When you talk about it tearing off the skin of the roof of your mouth, you have to be talking about the mac-daddy of them all, Captain Crunch!! I love it!

I like cereal crunchy, except for "Grape Nuts", soggy grape nut cereal in the best.

As before, Crunchy Rules!!! Although I do admit that I too let the original grapenuts soften "A LITTLE" but it is a fine line for them. a They can get too soggy!

If I may, my vote does not appear in the poll. So that being said, we have to consider that the crunchability of cereal is a complex topic, and that there are some cereals that are even designed to be soggy.

Crunchy oatmeal? Ain't never meant to be. Oatmeal is best hot, covered with brown sugar, ladened with real butter and drowned in milk.

Some cereals are designed to be crunchy, Capt. Crunch, Cheerios, Rice Crispys, any of the Chex cereals, and Grape Nuts, etc.

Then we have a third group, the flakes. These have an variable crunch factor that is dependent upon a number of variables, i.e., size of the bowl, amount of milk poured, size of the spoon, distractions and delays. They start life crunchy and finish as limp chips of fiber.

So the crunchability of cereal becomes a situational matter.
