COGOP Questions: Lo we heard of it....

Postby Gerald Creasy » June 7th, 2006, 5:48 am

Psa 132:6 Lo, we heard of it at Ephratah: we found it in the fields of the wood.

The Psalmist is foreseeing the reemergence of the TRUE Church of God in wooded North Carolina in the beginning of the twentieth century.

Couldn't disagree more with that interpretation of scripture.

Now, The Message says
6-7 Remember how we got the news in Ephrathah,
learned all about it at Jaar Meadows?
We shouted, "Let's go to the shrine dedication!
Let's worship at God's own footstool!"

I guess it could be referring to N.C Fields of the Wood since so many have deemed that place a holy shrine. 8)
Let the wild rumpus start!

OK 3 people have voted in support of this, but no one has posted any reasoning, anyone willing to stand up for this belief, or do we assume this was just a mistaken mouseclick?

If you voted "I agree" to this post then you are an idiot, hands down, completely off your rocker.

Ephratah is an ancient city right next to Bethlehem - considered part of Bethlehem - King David's home country.
Any "woods" mentioned here would not be the woods from North Carolina. This passage has nothing to do with COGOP heritage or fulfilled COGOP prophecy.

COGOP .....lo we heard of it

Postby Dr. Ron » June 9th, 2006, 6:49 am

Right again Joey! You are batting 1000 today. I'm proud of you man!

Again, it is the T&S mentality of that day. Credit Bro. Rhodes again with that one. MAT bought into much of this because it had begun when AJT was GO and he was allowing it. Rhodes , Paine, Griffith, and others, continued this vein. They saw the effects. Kent was also at the fore.

I'm not sure MAT believed as much as he allowed. He and I talked about some of this at length and I got the impression he was overwhelmed by some of these strong personalities early on in his tenure. Of course, FOTW was begun during AJT. He loved that stuff! He was a showman and a motivater and that stuff worked. I believe it was all with the right intentions.............just wrong.

Keep up the good work. Sell FOTW and move on!

This is a passage that has been grossly abused and misused. t is one thing to draw a parallel from this passage to "finding the church" -- it is another entirely to rename a mountain and then claim the scripture was prophesying specifically of that place and events transpiring there. I even took issue with that one when I held to TCOG/COGOP as the exclusive restoration of the NT church.
