If it was false I'm wondering why the world recognizes the Wright Brothers over the others flights.
Even down to putting it down and recognizing it on our calendars.

Did someone mess up on the reporting? hummmm

I had heard the Wright Bro's. were the first ones who was able to keep a craft in the air as long as they did... the others got off the ground only to come straight down and crash.
By this standard of the Bro's keeping it in air caused it to take the record and make it known as the first flight in reality.

But here... in we are getting off the subject and getting onto another one. "Records"

I do think God has a plan.. he's always had a plan. The Wright Bro's and the Church coinciding into that plan together.. I have my doubts but I'm not God so I don't know if that was his plan or not.

The words you are looking for on the Wright brothers is "sustained and controlled " flight. There were many attempts before and it can be said that the Wrights were not the first. But they were the first to achieve "sustained and controlled " flight. Their contributions to avaiation are still being used to this day relative to controll issues.

I voted "disagree"
These "clouds" are likely ship sails (Isaiah looking out over the Mediterranean Sea)....we must read verse 8 & 9 together.
"....fly along like the clouds....surely the islands look to me...in the lead are the ships of Tarshish (Probably ships from the region of Spain)...bringing your sons from afar"

I see "these" being souls flocking to Christ.
In the presence of Jehovah, God almighty, Prince of peace.
Troubles vanish, hearts are mended, in the presence of
The King.

whatever? do ships have doves and clouds by their windows?

Sure,

see Joey's explanation above. Fits this interpretation, at least I think so.
Let the wild rumpus start!

poll

Postby paul » June 9th, 2006, 6:13 am

Idiot ? Retarded ? At one time I believed the Cog op interpretation of the scriptures being made referenced to. Why? That was what I was taught as a child, grew up believing until I began to hear differently, and search the Scriptures for myself.

So does that make me less retarded now ? Or less of an Idiot ?

Where I work in ministry if I go in and call someone an Idiot because of their totally anti Christian view. or because they believe in more than 330 million God's (Hindu's)I certainly will not win them and possibly might loose my head. (literally). Remember that is what they are taught and seldom ever hear anything else. Retarded? Idiot ?

Besides, many young boys at that time (50's-60's) dreamed of flying a plane and dropping tracts over Cuba. They had no idea of the misguided interpretation of scripture. My pastor was one of the pilots and he took me up several times.

I guess the next poll to appear will be Habakkuk 2:2 Waiting Gerald

There is something to be said for the fact that all attempts at flight had failed until the Wright brothers were successful in 1903 -- the only ones successful that year. IT is an intriguing notion and gives a good deal of credibility to the "prophetic association" our heritage has applied to it.

However, the references are clearly to the Israelite people returning home from bondage/captivity in foreign lands to Israel -- to Sion. Again there is strong parallel here to the NT church --- but any application to the Wright Brothers (though intriguing) is subjective.

ok ok , I admit, it was a bit harsh. but to be honest it was to try and draw out the folks who voted that they agreed with the teachings. Why dont they speak up?!! Cat got there tounge? :)

Brian, why would any of them be "drawn out" when you made it quite clear you'd already prejudged them and found them to be an idiot for what they believe?

No, those who believe this and WOULD have commented are probably sitting back and shaking their heads in sadness for those of us who are "unenlightened and reprobate"

Gerald, I believe it is the book of Isaiah that records this verse but in light of it could you please explain your beliefs. It is!

Isaiah 52:8 - Thy watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall bring again Zion.

If Zion is all saved people then why must it be brought again? Where did it go? Zion according to the book of Hebrews is the church of the firstborn.
I have piped unto you, and ye have not danced!

Question: Is it impossible that this scripture speaks of the Wright Brother's flight? Does the Bible not speak of any such events?

Yes, it is impossible. Those verses are speaking of Ships sailing in Tarshish. Get a map, and you will notice that Tarshish is on the mediterranean and that NC is in North America. Get an encyclopedia, and you'll notice that ships and airplanes are totally different things. Except for one thing: the sail of a ship propells a ship the same way a bird's wings propel it, as does an airplanes wings.

Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God? (Jesus)
