Absolute sense. I love to read NIV but when it comes to my memory it is KJV from years and years of exposure.

Same here. I also enjoy the New Century Version.

I'm with Scooter, I tend to always fall back on the KJV. Primarily for two main reasons.

My Mom bought me my first good study Bible after I got saved, and didn't know about different translations, she went to get me a Bible like my sisters (Thompson Chain Reference NIV) but came home with a KJV.

KJV is accepted everywhere. I live in an area where there are still many who don't trust anything but KJV, so having gotten used to KJV, that's one less excuse people have to turn it away.

Don't know if anyone has seen it, but I just bought my son a NIrV (New International Readers version) it is basically the NIV but rewritten in easy words for new readers 6-8 years old. He had been wanting to read mine, and really struggling with it when I found this one, I would love to find him one of the old Picture Bibles as well, but you just can't find them anymore.

I have nkjv , niv, amp and kjv but I read the kjv more than any of them. When I am studing something it helps to read what other versions say.

I'm an NLT man. That is what I read from daily, and what I teach/preach from. When I am studying though, I study with an NLT, a KJV, a RSV, and Young's Literal Translation.

I love the Amplified to help me understand the Word better, but I most always preach from KJV.

I prefer the NIV, but most people here like the KJV, you know the one that disciples used. LOL!

I like the KJV but use the others as references. Pastor Ables, I don't have an Amplified but wouldn't mind checking it out. :D

I prefer to use The Scriptures and the Hebrew Tanach. But I also use E-sword for study and reference to many different translations and commentary.[/url]

I pretty much read equally NIV, NASV, and NKJV (right now I'm carrying the NKJV with me all the time). Each seems to reflect a suggestion of cultural bias, so if I'm really trying to study a verse/verses I also reference NRSV, The Amplified Bible (and some others), plus a Hebrew/Greek literal translation. By far and away, my favorite study Bible is the Nelson Study Bible. I'm not very fond of NLT, The Message, etc., but I firmly believe that God speaks to us through all of them, if we will allow Him to. I used to work in a Christian Book Store, also, and several times listened to the 1611 KJV people only berate the store for spreading false teachings. The owner generally kept a contemporary copy of the 1611 under the counter, and he would pull it out and ask the speaker to find and read to him their favorite passages. Since it's written in Middle English, they, of course, wouldn't be able to find it--much less read it. He didn't do this to be mean (he was always a gentle, loving guy), but to try to help them actually see that what they were so smugly proclaiming probably wasn't accurate. I have often wondered if 1611'rs are aware that it included the Apocrapha (sp?)--I wonder what they think of the Book of Tobit? Oh, me--how the arrogance of some people inflames my own. Time to close and go ask God to please forgive me.
